The government has invested a lot of time and money in trying to regain consumer confidence and stabilizing the economy in general. There is scepticism if this will lead to sustainable growth.

A lot of the issues surround concern over US jobs. The unemployment rate is the highest been in 26 years hovering just below 10%. Predictions say that it is unlikely to improve in 2010.

Companies and government agencies are still cutting jobs to streamline their costs as a result of the global recession.

It will be interesting to see if the job market improves in 2010, if continues to plateau or even decline.
